The LIT focuses on areas located in the Amazon-Cerrado ecotone near the headwaters of the Xingu and Tapajós river basins.
In addition to sampling at the Rio Ronuro Ecological Station, Rio Juruena, Cristalino State Park and at the collection sites in the modules of the Biodiversity Research Program (PPBio).
PPBio modules are managed by the Sinop Regional Nucleus by researchers from the Amazon Biodiversity Studies Nucleus of Mato Grosso (NEBAM).
